The Color Run

One day someone realized that running needed to be more fun.

Enter The Color Run.

I am sure you have heard of this. You run a 5k, while volunteers set off “color bombs” to dye your clothes, your skin, your hair…your eyeballs probably.

Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!

Last year The Color Run came to Phoenix, but I was super pregnant, so while running may have been an option…it would not have been pretty. Even covered in all those colors.

But they are returning in 2014, and I. Am. There! So is my husband, who has been running nightly for weeks now. Who is this person I’m married to? I don’t know, but he’s hot.

Is The Color Run coming to your neighborhood? You can find out their locations here. And if you decide to run, use the coupon above (COLOR5OFF) for $5 off your registration- good for any city that’s not sold out!

What do you think? Will you run?

I did one 5k once, and I really enjoyed it and planned on doing another. That was several years ago. I’ve seen the surge of “color” and other themed races … I guess I’m just easily intimidated. The crowds, the cost (aren’t they a bit more expensive?), the mess … while I DO still want to do another 5k at some point, I think maybe I’ll stick with a plain and simple one to start. The pictures from these races always do look fun though!
