It’s Saturday again, friends. Time for another Shaping Up For Summer post!
We are now halfway through February, with two weeks remaining. Yikes, gotta pick it up a bit over here! This past week has been so crazy busy with one thing or another that I don’t think I’ve gone running in over a week. I’ve had some exercise through choreographing and teaching show choir, so that’s good, and I’ve been hitting 7000-10000 steps on my FitBit Force.
We are also halfway through the Fun On A Dime Fresh Start Fitness Challenge. I haven’t been pushing myself really, but having items to check off every day has definitely kept my exercise and eating habits at the forefront of my mind.
So remember that goal to have a carb-free February? Yeah well, that didn’t happen quite how I planned. Short story: I ate carbs. The good news is that if I’m trying, even just a little bit, to eat better, I lose weight. It’s slow, but it’s going in the right direction. I think this is largely due to the fact that I finally got the right thyroid medication at the right dosage. It should be helping my metabolism stabilize, which in turn is helping my body get back to where it should naturally be.
But of course the more I make the right food and exercise choices, the faster that weight loss will go. It’s just been SO easy to go through the drive-thru lately!
But there’s two weeks left in the month, we have a house full of groceries, and this week’s meals are planned. I will do my best to get out and run in the evenings. Yard work is also desperately needed over here, and that’s probably the best exercise out there (especially since you end up with a nice yard at the end!).
This will be a busy week, since we have Vanessa’s birthday on Tuesday, her party on Saturday, after-school musical rehearsals for Daniel, Saturday show choir rehearsals for both of us, plus I have my first rehearsal for my play on Tuesday evening. Plus work and school. Plus I have a baby. Monday is a day off, and I plan to use it to get the house and yard ready for the party on Saturday. One day at a time…!
I promised progress (in the title, see?), so here it is.
Last week I weighed in at 168.6, and this week I’m at 168.2. Like I said, slow but steady. If I can find the willpower to make better choices more often, I know I will lose more and faster.
I’m getting this post written late at the last minute, but my promise for next week is measurements! And then I will include weight and measurements on each Shaping Up post from here on out! Talk about motivation.
If you’re new and/or annoyed by this rambling post, please check out last week’s post, where I posted photos from all of my various weights over the past 12 years.
15 weeks left until June! Lots of time to see major changes. Let’s do this!

Go you! Sounds like you’re on a roll. I love my fitbit! I get about 10,000 a day too.
these posts motivate me,I want to get my shape back!
Thanks for inviting me to join this link-up! Great job on your progress!
How tall are you, can I ask? ‘Cause you look WAAAAAY better at 168 than I do at 148! Congrats on the great progress!
Thanks! I am only 5’1″ so really I should look worse at a heavier weight than someone who is taller! I do think that I look like I weigh less than I really do, but who knows!
