I hate making excuses. Usually when I make a goal for myself, I complete it. Without the goal, I might not be super motivated, but I’m very competitive and don’t like to fail.
But as for July and those goals I made…I have to make an excuse. At least it’s a decent one! Within the space of two weeks, right near the middle/end of July, we went from hearing about a job opening to moving to a new town to start said job! Needless to say, I was hella-busy packing and making arrangements and trying to keep up with my running schedule (half-marathon training). As it is, I missed three runs, including my 11-miler. :(
Let’s take a look at what my goals were for July:
Read 100 pages in Jesus The Christ
I was determined to do this, and I know I would have if it hadn’t been for the move. I managed to read 40 pages before things got crazy.
Cross off two more items on my 30 Before 30 list
I got one out of two!
Add new sponsorship options for August
This one I did! Now offering two featured spots each month for only $6!
Lose 8.3 pounds
I lost 4.2 pounds in July. Not as much as I was shooting for, but now that I’m down almost 20 pounds, the momentum has started to slow, as it usually does when you get smaller! No complaints here; I’m feeling pretty good! But I would really like to lose another 6.6 asap!
So not too bad, and I’ve managed to more or less stay on top of everything else, so that’s good!
Moving on to August!
Goals for August:
Get completely unpacked and organize and beautify our new home
I really like our new house, and I’m both happy and sad that we won’t likely be here for more than a year. We have a year lease, but we have plans to expand our family, so we are hoping that we’ll need a bigger place after our lease is up. The good news is that rental homes are aplenty round here, and I feel confident that we could find a house in the same neighborhood with a third bedroom, for about the same as what we are currently paying in rent. But we’ll still be here for at least a year, so I want to make it feel like home.
Read those other 60 pages
Didn’t finish the 100 page goal in July, so I’m going to try to finish it in August.
Take a dance class
Now that we are in a larger town that has lots more to offer, I want to take advantage of that and doing something for myself. I found two nearby studios that offer classes that I’m interested in, and I plan on making arrangements to take a weekly class, starting soon!
Finish my training and run a half-marathon
I ran my longest long run today (12 miles), and now my long runs taper to 9 and then 8 before the race (13.1) on the 25th.
Establish a routine
This transition hasn’t been easy, and the kids have had an especially hard time with their sleep schedules. I want to take our time during the month of August and focus on getting settled in our new home, but by the time September rolls around, I want to have a regular daily routine worked out that works for me and the kids.
What are you going to do in August?

Megan… You are awesome. I think you’re doing a good job at working toward your goals and I’m definitely inspired at how you’re making such a huge transition so gracefully. =) Keep it up girl! I hope to be joining you on the loser bus very soon!! I just started back into a work out routine! Woooo!
You are going to do so great on your half marathon! I hope all of your goals this month go well, and that your first month in your new home is not too stressful.
I love that quote on top and your list of goals! It’s inspiring to see how you have documented so many..I’m now motivated to do so! Thanks.

Those are some big goals! You will be busy, but can totally do it. I love your quote from Elder Holland. Have you seen the Mormon message video that it comes from? Amazing. It’s called “good things to come”

Wow! You did an AMAZING job despite what sounds like a LOT of stress! We moved back in May and I’m STILL working on getting all the way “moved in”. Best of luck, don’t be too hard on yourself, I’m super impressed already :)
You’re going to rock your goals this month. And awesome job on your 20 lbs…any forward progress toward your goal should count as a success.
OK, so the fact that you did all of your goals mostly, is awesome. Especially with as good as they were-congrats on the weight loss! I really need to get my butt in gear! You can do this in August, you are awesome!
Thanks for linking up doll!
