As of 12 days postpartum, I have lost my pregnancy weight! This is great news, because I still have a long ways to go, but that’s 20 pounds I don’t have to worry about at all! The baby weight came off automatically; I didn’t have to really do anything other than have a baby and start breastfeeding. I was hoping that doing nothing would get me even a little farther down on the scale, but it looks like I’m going to have to work for the rest of it!
I’m a big planner, and I’ve already “decided” that I want to try for another baby next July. If I can reach my goals by this July (which IS my goal because that’s when we are going to Maine and taking family pictures), then I have at least a whole year before I’m pregnant again.
So as of tomorrow I’m 3 weeks postpartum, with 3 left to go before I’m out of the postpartum stage. Then I have no excuses! I have my checkup appointment actually around 4.5 weeks. I expect to get the okay to exercise at that point, but I don’t know how much I’ll do before the 6 week mark. I’ve already been stretching and doing ab work every day, so at the least I will continue to do that. I’m also choreographing a ton over the next few months, so I’ve been dancing a little too (nothing very strenuous).
Along with exercising and eating better, a big goal I have is to cook more, and to be better organized with planning meals and shopping for food. I know that will go a long way in improving my eating habits, and it will benefit my whole family. I’m thinking of going for the “cook one afternoon, have meals for 6 nights” kind of thing.
I will continue to update with my progress!

Looks like your blog has come full circle. Wasn’t losing weight after Carter the reason you started it? Can’t wait to hear about your progress. I am trying to get into shape by August so if you come across any miracle workout or diet let me know.
Yes, that was the original idea, and I’m hoping to do better this time around! I lost 40 of Carter’s 50 pounds and then life threw me a curveball and I gained a lot back. I guess I should take some of the blame, though, if not all of it! This time I need to do better. I’ll let you know about the miracle workouts and diets I come across! :)
