"When it’s summertime, and the weather is fine…"

by Megan

Well, the weather has NOT been fine! The first three weeks we were here, I think it was sunny for two days. It has rained so much, but for the past few days the sun finally came out! And it’s supposed to stay for the rest of our trip. I wish we had seen more of it, but we’ve still had a great time.

Yesterday we finally made it to the beach, and it was perfect! We got there at 9am and played in the sand, walked down to the water with Carter, went swimming in the ocean, walked down to the pier for lunch, and then rinsed and repeated. We finally dragged our sunburnt selves off the beach at 3pm!

Last week we drove down to DC for the fourth and got to stay with the Tomas! I’m sad I didn’t think to take any pictures with them, but we had a great time catching up, and I had a particularly great voice lesson with Brother Toma! Our time in the district was mostly spent walking around and enjoying the atmosphere (and checking out the “tea party” that was held at the capitol on the morning of the 4th). It was very busy, so we didn’t “do” a lot of things, but we had fun anyway!

It’s been so much fun, and I’m looking forward to our last couple of days here (two more in Maine, one day trip to NYC, and then we’re leaving), but I can’t wait to get back home and get started working on our new house! What a great thing to look forward to after such an awesome trip. And that’s not even mentioning our trip home… We’re going to be visiting Niagara Falls, Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Chicago where we are going to visit the Sears Tower, the art museum (Ferris Bueller, anyone?), and we will be taking a film bus tour around the city that points out the locations of movies shot there and shows movie clips and hands out popcorn. After that, we’ll be headed straight home.

Well, I would give more detailed descriptions of all our activities, but it’s late and I’m tired! Here are a few pictures!
