Adult-Proof Your Smart Phone & Walmart Best Plans

by Megan

I love you, Mom. But there will be some laughs at your expense throughout this post. I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community.  This shop, featuring #FamilyMobile and Walmart best plans, has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser.

I recently posted about how to “kid-proof” your smart phone, and now the time has come to talk about how to “adult-proof” your smart phone!

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but technology is my mother’s Achilles heel. Every day the woman fights with her television remote control, and I could write you a pretty accurate script of how that rant goes.

“I should just be able to press a button and have it do what I want! Nothing I try works. I just want to put on a show, is that so much to ask? Why do things have to be so complicated?!”

Every. Day.

Now let’s talk about the internet. When my mom is done with her browsing session, she clicks the “back” button until she gets back to her home page (the page she started on), and THEN closes the browser. I cannot even fathom how this would make sense to anyone.

One time my mom had Facebook open in one tab, and she closed and reopened her browser before going to a forum site where she likes to read and post. I showed her how to do multiple tabs and asked her why she had closed her browser window. Her response: “I don’t want my Facebook friends to see what I post about on the forums.”

Yeah, wow.

But she loves her grandbabies, and that’s all that matters!

These days technology is pretty much unavoidable, so it’s helpful when there are options that can work for even the not-so-technical crowd (which, hey, could be people of any age). We have Walmart Family Mobile, which is a great way to simplify your cell phone plan. There are no complicated rules about who you can call, when you can call, or how long you can talk, and there are phones available that can be set up for the ultimate ease of use!

So how is Walmart Family Mobile “adult-proof?” Or in other words, what makes Family Mobile simple and easy-to-use?

1. Call anyone, any time, and talk as long as you want. There are no complicated terms. You pay one flat rate per month for unlimited talk & text, or talk, text & web. If you decide to change your plan, there are no fees because there is no required contract.

2. Walmart Family Mobile will do the initial set-up for you. Go into any Walmart with a mobile center, choose a phone, and they will get it all ready to go. You can make a call as you walk out the door!

3. There are phones you can choose that are simple to use. We have the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit, which would be a great choice. This phone is highly customizable, so if having a lot of apps is going to confuse your technologically-challenged adult friend, you can hide any of the apps and configure the phone to have just one screen, with the buttons they need to use, such as call, text, maps, camera, etc.

There is also an “easy mode” which simplifies the phone display and options. This is a great idea for those who want all the smart phone capabilities without all the extra confusion. And if a smart phone is going to be too confusing, there are basic phones to choose from as well.

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are both coming up soon, so if you have a parent (or two!) who could benefit from having an easy cell phone and easy plan, definitely check out Walmart Family Mobile. It would also be a great gift for grads, to help them keep in touch with their family as they go out into the world!

Whether you are a smart phone expert, or you still print out directions from MapQuest instead of using the app on your phone, there’s something for everyone at #FamilyMobile!

Now I have to go. Taking my mom out to lunch for allowing me to make fun of her!

Oh my word! This sounds like my dad! He definitely isn’t embracing technology like I thought he would. #client
