Hey kids! I get to co-host with Lena today for Top Ten Tuesday!
Today we are listing ten people we would like to meet.
Okay, here we go with #1, and I apologize for the “cliche-ness.”
I can’t imagine how awesome it would be to sit down and talk to Jesus. That would just be sweet.
These are my husband’s parents. His Dad passed away in between our engagement and our wedding, and I only got to see him a couple of times because I was living across the country at the time. I’m grateful that I did get to meet my father-in-law, but I wish he could have been around longer so I could know him better, and so that he could know our kids!
This is Elder Holland, of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I get to hear the apostles speak every 6 months, and I always love his talks the best. He seems like such a loving, happy person, and he always has uplifting things to say to women and mothers. I actually have “seen” him twice- once when we attended a conference in SLC, and again when he came to the Gila Valley Temple Dedication/Cultural Celebration, but only from a distance!
Okay, here is where my list starts to get selfish and I start meeting people for my own personal benefit!
If you don’t know who this is, you probably aren’t a theatre person, but that’s okay! This is Kerry Butler, and she’s one of my favorite Broadway actresses. I liked her before liking her was cool, okay? I was very sad in 2001 when I missed seeing her in Bat Boy, but I did get to see her in 2003 in Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway! I would like to hang out with her and let her talk my ear off about the business of Broadway.
I would love to meet Tom Hanks and talk to him about his method/theory of acting. He is a strong “method actor,” and I would love to learn all about what he does to prepare for his work so then I could steal all his good ideas. One of my acting teachers had a quote from him on her office door, and I can’t find it for the life of me, but it was something along the lines of, “sometime you’re going to find yourself in the middle of the ocean and you have to have a breakdown over a volleyball, and it has to be real…” That’s bad paraphrasing on my part…
Um, who wouldn’t want Ty Pennington to show up on his or her front lawn? Get over here, Ty, and start making over my house in an extreme manner!
For pretty obvious reasons… If my house is going to get a makeover, then I get one too!
Because we are big Survivor dorks, and who better to sit down and severely over-analyze every episode with than Jeff?! Also, we could reminisce about Roll & Roll Jeopardy.
Oh boy, this is going to take some explaining… So, a few years back, my brother (who is very funny and a little bit odd) sent us all a letter from “The Bank of Christopher” (his name) supposedly written by the bank manager, Penny Derby. The letter included a “stimulus package” of 1 penny. Later, we got another stimulus package from Penny with the latest bank newsletter. Next thing we knew, Penny had her own Facebook page and our relatives were wondering who this lady was (that’s a story for another time). Here’s the funny part: my brother used this photo that he found on the internet…and forgot where he got it from. So this woman in this picture actually exists somewhere with (hopefully) the slightest idea that she has an alter ego claiming to be a bank manager named Penny Derby. Daniel and I have tried, unsuccessfully, to find other pictures of this lady, so that we could set up yet another Facebook page and (pretending to be this lady) angrily email my brother about his fake one.
So now you know a little bit about what my family is like…
And lastly, I would like to meet someone from the future. I want someone to walk up to me and tell me that they are my great-great-great-great-great-great grandchild, and they’ve traveled back in time to…I don’t know, play the lottery? And give me the winnings! Obviously, nobody ever invents time travel, or we’d already know about it, but yeah…I want to meet someone from the future.
That’s my list, now I want to read yours!
