Last weekend we traveled up to Chino Valley, where Daniel’s brother and his wife live. They are the same ones we went to Mexico with.
Lindsay is involved with the local theatre as a performer and director, and she was asked to both perform and direct in a play festival celebrating women playwrights. The festival featured 9 different short plays. The one she was to direct needed two women, and she asked me to be in it!
A few weeks ago, I traveled up to Phoenix (while she and the other actress, Heather, traveled down to Phoenix) so we could rehearse together. After that we were on our own to learn our lines and practice, and then we rehearsed again on Friday, right before the dress rehearsal, where all the plays got to run through on the stage before Saturday’s performances.
Our play was called She Said, She Said, written by Katherine James, and it was about two pageant moms who fight over a seat in the audience of the pageant in which their girls are competing.
It was really fun, and the audience really seemed to enjoy our piece. We went first, which was great, because I was nervous! We were able to get it over with right away, and then I could relax for the rest of the show.
It was pretty cool to travel and perform in a new (to me) theatre! I had a great time, and it’s always fun to see Chris and Lindsay and their kids.
Sunday morning we traveled over to Payson, AZ, in time for church, where Daniel’s oldest brother, Jared, was ordained as Bishop of their ward! It was nice to be able to be there for that.
We spent Monday and Tuesday morning at Daniel’s mom’s second house (which is right next door to his brother’s), and then we headed home. It was nice to get away for a few days, but it’s always nice to get back home, too!
Just a few more weeks of summer left! What are you going to do?

Hey Pageant Mom! You guys look great. I’m not ready for the summer feeling to be over but I sure am looking forward to September temperatures.
That sounds like so much fun! All my sisters are into theater, and I’d love to get my kids involved with it some how. :)
Sounds like a good time for sure! I def. don’t want summer to end…I really don’t want my little one to leave me for school. =( But hey I can’t wait for fall!!
