I just had a beautiful baby girl, who is my fourth little one (and last!). When scrolling Facebook one day, I came across an ad for the Owlet Monitor, and I immediately knew it was something I had to have for my new baby! The company was kind enough to send us an Owlet Monitor, so read on for my review and to find out why this is the new mommy must-have you didn’t know you needed!
8 years ago I became a mom. (That’s also when I started this blog- go back to the beginning and you’ll see!) Things have changed so much since I had my first baby. Technology has made leaps and bounds in that short amount of time.
When I brought home my first baby, the first few nights were fitful. I constantly woke up and put my hand on his chest to make sure he was still breathing. I think all new moms have had this experience!
But you can’t stay awake all night, checking on your little one, and that’s where the Owlet Monitor comes in.
These are the new tools of the trade:
The bootie (“Smart Sock”- several sizes are included in the box), goes on baby’s foot, and the monitor base goes by your bed. It uses a color and sound system to inform you of baby’s condition.
The Smart Sock uses hospital technology called pulse oximetry to monitor baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels. It’s similar to when you go to the doctor, and they clip that plastic monitor onto your index finger. The Smart Sock sends data to the base at your bedside which is designed to alert you when something is wrong.
A companion app on your phone keeps track of baby’s vitals and provides more information that you can view remotely at any time.
I definitely would have used the Owlet with my first three babies, if I had the option. I’m so glad to be able to use it with my new baby because of the peace of mind it offers. I can sleep a little more relaxed, knowing that if baby needs attention, the Owlet will let me know!
Visit the Owlet website for more information, testimonials, and to order! The Owlet Monitor should be on every mom-to-be’s wish list!
