The Kids Are Alright

by Megan

I have been working so hard on the “backstage” areas of my blog, that I’m afraid my content has been a little lacking! The good news is that I’ve been getting tons of stuff done, and my new site should be ready to launch on the first of November. It will look similar, but it will be better in so many ways. I’m very excited!

I think I’m overdue for an update on the kiddos, so here it is.

Carter finished out his summer with lots of swimming in Gramma’s pool, as well as a community pool where he took swim lessons. He’s so much more confident in the water, and with another set of lessons next summer, I think he’ll be swimming well on his own.

He is loving Kindergarten, and he regularly comes home with prizes (such as a fake tattoo) that he got from the “quiet critter” or the “cubby fairy” or just because he was extra good that day. The terms “model student” and “just the best student” have come out of the mouths of his teacher and her aide. Proud mama.

Last week Carter wasn’t feeling well, so I ended up keeping him home for two days. Of course on one of the days I did send him, he threw up…on his teacher. And of course that resulted in me asking this on Facebook:

Carter has a very best friend, named Sam, in his class. On “Twins Day” they dressed alike:

They sure do look like twins with that blonde hair and blue eyes! And I’ll give you three guesses as to who happened to have two blue button-down shirts with lobsters on them, in a 4T and a 5…if you guessed my mom, you are right.

Vanessa also enjoyed the pool. She’s my little daredevil and would jump in the deep end with no floaties if we’d let her. She is such a smart little girl who seems so much more 3 than 2! She loves to count with me or Gramma. She’ll say “1,” I’ll say “2,” and she’ll go all the way up to 30. She also knows most of her letters and loves to pick them out on signs and books.

A few days a week, Vanessa, Harrison, and I go to Gramma and Grampa’s house so I can work. Vanessa has so much fun playing with Gramma, and the weather has been absolutely perfect for being outside as much as possible!

Gramma even made Vanessa this colorful rice box (“my ice box!”) for her to play in while they hang out on the back patio. LOVE Phoenix in the fall!

Speaking of the gorgeous weather, one day Harrison fell asleep on a blanket on their back patio, so Gramma had fun doing a photo session while he was sleeping!

So nice to have a Gramma who loves to take photos and buy cute outfits for you! She should really start getting a cut from my blog, considering how every photo but one in this post is hers!

Harrison is such a good baby. He sleeps all night for me, and he’s starting taking slightly more reliable naps. He takes a bottle if we need him to (usually a few times a week), which my other kids would NOT do, so that gives me a little bit more freedom. He smiles at everyone and everything, and his little giggle is adorable.

So the kids are alright, the weather is beautiful, and we are staying busy with school, work, and fun! Hope everyone is having a great October. Here come the holidays!
