LEGOLAND California is a fun place to visit during the holidays, or anytime! Check out all the fun details they add to give the park some holiday cheer!
I’m a blogger ambassador for LEGOLAND California, which means I received free admission in exchange for writing this post. I’m excited to share all of the fun that you can have there!
LEGOLAND is a great theme park for LEGO enthusiasts, especially for younger kids. We have four kids under 10, so it was the perfect place for us to visit over winter break.
We surprised the kids by picking them up after their last day of school and heading straight for the park (from Phoenix). We got quite a ways down the road before Carter (my 9-year-old) said, “Wait, where are we going? This isn’t the way home. There’s suitcases in the trunk. Everyone is in the car. We’re going on a trip!”
And he was right! We were headed to Carlsbad, California for a fun-filled day at LEGOLAND, plus a couple of nights away in a nice hotel. It was the perfect getaway for those long days just before Christmas.
The Holidays at LEGOLAND California
There were a lot of fun details added to the park for the holidays. Before we even got into the park, we ran into LEGO Santa! I was so surprised by how much Melody loved him. I had to pull her away!
The LEGO Friends in Heartlake City had a special holiday show that included popular holiday songs and audience participation (Vanessa was thrilled to get up and dance along).
You can also visit an actual LEGO Santa (made from LEGO bricks), along with his sleigh and a couple of reindeer. These were in the Fun Town section, near the Police and Fire Academy.
In that same area is the LEGO Christmas Tree! There is a daily tree lighting on the days leading up to Christmas, where the tree lights up and holiday songs are played. And much to our surprise, it snowed!
Along with the holiday extras, we enjoyed a full day of rides, playing in the play areas, exploring the LEGO Star Wars displays, and building some LEGO creations. Everyone was tired but happy at the end of the day!
Check out our first visit to LEGOLAND to see some other fun things to do there, and also check out our clever idea for a LEGOLAND countdown!
If you’re planning a visit in 2018, you’ll be excited to know that LEGOLAND is opening up a brand-new hotel! It was cool to see it under construction. Shouldn’t be long now!
And if you don’t already have plans for New Year’s Eve, check out Kids’ New Year’s Eve at LEGOLAND, complete with fireworks, a LEGO ball drop (and the kids are still in bed by bedtime!).
I hope you are enjoying your holidays, however you choose to spend them, and best wishes for a happy new year!
