Hey guys! I am so glad that Megan from Shaping Up To Be A Mom asked me to come write a guest post for you all. I think she is just terrific and I’m a huge fan of her blog! I’ll start by introducing myself.
I’m Kelsey, and I blog over at Stories of Kel. I blog because I love having an outlet to express myself. I’ll tell you now my blog posts are never planned out in advance, they’re not perfect, and don’t have perfect grammar. When I find something I feel like I want to write about I grab my laptop and “word vomit” as some would say. I just let the words spill from my fingers.
As a new blogger and also a newlywed I have been bombarded with the perfect syndrome. I see women who have meals planned out weeks in advance, perfectly decorated homes, the most stylish outfits, and even blogs that seem to be perfect with gorgeous custom made designs, thousands of followers, and professional looking photos.
It’s no wonder sometimes we as women can feel inadequate. I’m here to tell you that shouldn’t be the case! It’s okay to not fit that mold! Perfect is boring. We all have flaws and we all have things that may set us back but that’s what makes us individuals and interesting. I wanted to share some of my tips on how to make it without making yourself crazy.
Do what works for you and your family! My husband and I love buying decorations right after season. I just picked up a super cute little Thanksgiving and Halloween decoration at a really nice home gallery for 75% off. It was definitely worth waiting to get the good deal.
Second hand can be your best friend. I would say about 1/4 of my closet is second hand, the rest of it was bought on clearance. I can’t remember the last time I bought something at full price. Like I said before, it’s the waiting game. If you can just wait a few more weeks you’ll save tons of money! I also wear all my clothes until they’re basically falling apart. I would love to sport the newest trends and have super cute clothes but that just doesn’t fit into my budget. Waiting to buy clothes after season, on clearance, buying used, or even hand me downs are a great way to save a lot of money.
You bloggers are beautiful women because you are real, interesting, and different. I love finding new blogs that show women as they really are. Real is interesting. Real is fun! I encourage you to be yourselves when you blog and show your true colors. Remember why you started blogging in the first place. Chances are you blog because you love to write and you love the creative outlet that it gives you. I know that’s why I started and I want you to all hold me accountable for staying true to that.
Come on over to my blog and say hello! I would love to get to know each and every one of you!
