It’s hotter than blazes here in Phoenix, but luckily I have a secret weapon to relax and beat the heat- my Hawaiian Sunrise Smoothie! I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. I have my own personal happy hour. During the school year, it’s from about 10–11 am. My husband is a teacher who starts his workday at 7 am, and I drop my oldest off at his school at 8 am, after which I return to my house (after hitting the gym on some days) with my 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son.
The baby takes a mid-morning nap, and I take that opportunity to let my daughter watch a little TV or play on a tablet for a little while. Thus begins my “me” time! The house is quiet, and I power up my laptop and blog, or maybe watch one of my own favorite shows. Maybe I’m budgeting or maybe I’m trudging through emails, but either way I’m enjoying myself! It’s time for a treat.
I have never been a milk drinker. When I was very young, I let my parents know, quite clearly, how I felt about milk, and they did not force it on me. But last year when I started to clean up my eating habits, I discovered the wonders and benefits of almond milk!
I discovered that you can mix almond milk with frozen pineapple, and you get something very similar to pineapple ice cream! From there I refined my recipe into what is now my Hawaiian Sunrise Smoothie!
The smoothie includes the ingredients you would expect: fresh or frozen bananas and pineapple, a little ice if you use fresh fruit, and some water, depending on how thick you want it.
But the secret ingredient that brings it all together is Silk AlmondCoconut Blend! The coconut flavor blends with the fruit to bring you a taste that will make you feel like you’re sitting on the North Shore, feeling the ocean breeze and watching the surfers!
Silk offers many different variations on almond milk, and you can find them at Safeway, where I bought mine.
You can of course use your Silk Almond Blend to make smoothies, as I do, but it is also delicious just on its own. My 1-year-old loves it in his bottle!
So if you are not a fan of regular milk, need a little extra protein in your life, or if you just want to put a little kick of flavor into your beverage, definitely give Silk Almond Blends a try, and discover your own happy hour!
