Simple Beauty Minerals Makeup

by Megan

When I was in elementary school and would stay over at my best friend’s house, I was afraid of her mother. No, her mom wasn’t mean or anything. But the morning after our sleepover, I wouldn’t recognize the creature that shuffled into the kitchen! I remember marveling at how she could look so different first thing in the morning than she did later in the day after waking up and putting on some makeup.

Ladies and gentlemen…now I know. Now I know.

I’m afraid in my old age of 31, I have become that mom. Puffy-faced and bleary-eyed is how I wake up most days, and it doesn’t help that I’ve been getting about 5 hours of sleep a night lately. So when given the opportunity to try out some new makeup and skin care products, I said yes, yes, oh goodness gracious, yes! So Simple Beauty Minerals sent me these products, to try out on myself!

Simple Beauty Minerals Review (ad)

Yesterday I wrote about the food documentaries I’ve been watching on Netflix, and one included a section on beauty products and talked about how most of them are chock full of all the bad things! Not so with Simple Beauty Minerals.

Mineral makeup is the most natural makeup on the market. It lasts for years and does not collect bacteria like many other types of makeup. It is clean and green and safe!

So okay, I committed to doing a before and after photo, so here is my “before:”

That photo is actually a little too flattering. Believe me, I look a little rougher than that, first thing in the morning! But I don’t have any makeup on, and I didn’t do any editing to the photo.

Then I got ready for the day and used my new Simple Beauty Minerals products- the Peach Mineral Eye Shadow and Frosting Sugar Gloss, along with my own eyeliner, mascara, and brow liner.

I also used the Embellish Anti-Aging Mineral Night Treatment. This can be used as a primer or finish powder, although the company recommends putting it on in the evening as an overnight treatment for your skin.

Ahh, there we go. Much better.

I don’t wear makeup every day, and when I do, I don’t wear a lot of it, so mineral makeup is a good choice for me because of how lightweight it can be.

Along with doing my makeup, I got a little more dressed up than usual today (so, not sweatpants) to go to an event, and I felt really pretty all day!

Here’s the before-and-after, side by side:

So there’s one more thing… We’ve already determined that Simple Beauty Minerals is safe, clean, and makes you look great, but there is something else that is really cool about the company: they do NOT use retouched photos to sell their products.

You can read about this in more detail in their article about not using touched-up photos, but the short story is that other beauty companies often showcase models (or even stock photos) that have been heavily-doctored, and which may not have used the company’s own makeup for the shots!

How often do you find a company or product that 1. you need, 2. you love, 3. is good for you, 4. demonstrates strong morals, and 5. is affordable? Well, you’ve found one today.

Recently I asked my husband what he thought about me cutting bangs, to hide my wrinkles. What do you think his response was?

“What wrinkles?”

Yes, he’s a great husband and a nice guy, so he probably wouldn’t have said, “Yes please, let’s try to cover that up.” But, his response was really honest. He didn’t even notice and certainly didn’t care about this flaw that I was ashamed of and wanted to cover up.

I love that Simple Beauty Minerals is raging against the touched-up photo and striving to be honest in their business. That’s a company I want to support.

baby-steps-to-a-better-you

We are on Day 17 of the “Baby Steps to a Better You” challenge, and today’s challenge is to take stock of your makeup and other beauty items, and to purge whatever you don’t need or want anymore.

Do you have some that are way past their expiration date? Any colors that are outdated? Maybe you just have so many products that you need to do some organizing just to see everything.

Consider whether what you are putting on your body is as beneficial or harmful as the foods you are putting inside your body.

Once your products are purged and organized, do a little bit of research. Which companies have practices and policies that you can get behind, and which do you want to put behind you?

Find those companies and products that believe in the same things as you, and you’ll have found your match!

Thanks so much for sharing Simple Beauty Minerals with your readers! As an indie company we rely on word of mouth to let people know all the good things we can bring to them.
