Shaping Up In November…and BABY!

by Megan

Wow, it’s November! Cool! Time for some new goals and to wrap up some old ones…

Wrap up…get it?

In October I wanted to:

1. Lose 9 pounds

2. Relax

I think I did pretty well with the relaxing part, and I feel good about the craziness that is ahead of me from now until February! However, I may have relaxed just a little bit too much, because instead of losing 9 pounds, I gained some instead! And…I got pregnant.

Of course the month I slack off and gain back some of the weight I’ve lost would be the month we succeed in our conception efforts! Well, no one is complaining here. We have a baby on the way!!!

I am excited to be having another baby, and I’m happy that now I can plan the next year of my life a little better. We had a trip to Maine tentatively planned for next summer, which we won’t be taking, but we can definitely plan for the following summer. We can also plan on when we’ll need to leave this house for a larger one. And the list goes on.

This will be another summer baby (due July 11th), so the first part of the hellish Phoenix summer will be difficult, but at least I don’t have to go the entire summer like I did with Carter. Also, if this is a boy, he will be able to wear all of Carter’s baby clothes, since the age and seasons will line up correctly.

Carter, Oct 2008

Also, I will have this baby mere days before Carter starts Kindergarten, which is how I’ve always planned it (never having more than two kids home at once, but having them somewhat close together), but that means that I won’t get any time with only Vanessa at home. That’s too bad, but I’m sure we’ll have lots of bonding time when the baby is napping.

Carter and Vanessa are two and a half years apart, almost exactly, and this baby will be about two years and 5 months younger than Vanessa, so just about the same! We’re planning on four, and I’d love to have the same distance between the last two as well.

Vanessa, February 2011

This baby will come about two months after my 29th birthday, so if all goes according to plan, I will have my fourth and last just before my 32nd birthday and just before the summer before Vanessa starts Kindergarten.

Then again, this could be twins and really mess everything up.

Hehe, just kidding. That would be awesome.

Goals for November:

1. Learn to balance work and work and home

Next week I start my long-term sub position for one of the dance teachers at the high school. I’m excited and terrified. I’ll be teaching full-time for the next ten weeks (although that’s including two weeks off for Christmas and a few other days off throughout). I will also be continuing with my evening/part time job, and I’m going to try to keep my 18 hour schedule. My part time job is for my dad’s company, and he won’t mind if I end up cutting down on my hours while I’m subbing, but I’m hoping I can keep it up! It’s only temporary, and the extra money will help us a lot! My mom will be watching my kids two days a week, and we have a babysitter for the other three (she is great and the kids love her, so we are lucky).

In November, I have a four-day week, a two-day week (Thanksgiving), and a five-day week, so by the end of the month I’m hoping I will have figured out a routine that works for everyone!

2. Take the next step in getting rid of selling our old house

We have started the short sale/deed in lieu process to relieve us of our old house, which we no longer need, and which is not selling. It is, however, doing a really good job of sitting empty and sucking up our money. I am really hoping to get this taken care of before the end of the year.

3. Rock the Resolutions In Motion challenge!

Hi! I’ve been following you! This is pretty awesome how you’ve been able to space your children out. Congratulations and best of luck. (I’ve always dreamed of twins!)

Those are great goals, and congratulations on the baby! I think that is a wise decision to have only one home at a time-then they both get the same amount of attention for the first few years of their lives and you never get overly stressed out. I don’t know how those women with three under 5 do it-it’s insane! I’d be tearing my hair out!

Thanks so much for linking up!
