Shaping Up For Summer: Color Fun Fest

by Megan

This week I’m going to share with you my experience running the Color Fun Fest last Saturday!

My husband and I ran another color run last month, and my mom came to watch the kids while we ran. She thought it looked like tons of fun, so she and I decided to run the Color Fun Fest together.

We got there super early and had plenty of time to register, change into our race shirts, and wander around checking out the festival booths.

Lots of people started throwing the free color packets they got, getting themselves colorful before the race even started. My mom and I waited for the race to start before getting colorful, and we got several comments about how we were “too clean!”

Finally it was time to run! We lined up at the starting line, and we were happy that we got to be in the first wave. We were already hungry and talking about dinner!

One of the cool things about the Color Fun Fest is that they do a daytime and a nighttime run. We did the daytime run which was 4:30 in the afternoon.

My mom likes to walk, and I wanted to stick together, so we ran at the beginning, the end, and through the color zones, but we walked most of it. It only took 40 minutes, so the course had to be less than 5k!

It was a fun time, and we got very colorful! One thing I liked about the Color Fun Fest is that there were no blue or purple colors! Those were the ones that got us super messy last time. When my husband and I ran, we had to go directly home and shower, but my mom and I weren’t so messy that we couldn’t go out to eat afterward! We took the time to wipe off our faces, but that was it. We did make sure to eat outside, though!

We both thought the course needed to be a little more interesting. We basically ran up and down through the large parking lot of a concert venue. It would have been nicer to have some more scenery to run past.

All in all, it was a fun thing to do on a Saturday afternoon, and then we enjoyed a nice meal before heading home to shower! Check out the Color Fun Fest Facebook page to see if they are coming to a city near you!

Onto this week’s weigh-in: I lost 1.4 pounds! I weighed in at 166.2. Getting really close to surpassing my lowest weight in years!

No current photo or measurements from this week because I’m super lazy busy.

Last week my goal was to hit the gym twice. I had planned to go Monday and Wednesday, but other things got in the way on Monday. BUT, I did go Wednesday morning and LOVED it! More about that next week.

How was your week? Did you meet your fitness goals?
