Now I’d like to tell you about my own goal for this challenge! I am going to not eat any sugar for 6 weeks.
You see…I tried to give up sugar, starting back in May. The plan was to go a year without. I didn’t tell many people, and I definitely didn’t announce it on my blog. Maybe that was a mistake. I really wanted to write a blog post after the year was over, saying, “Surprise! I didn’t eat sugar for the past year!”
Anyway, I made it a few months, but then I fell off the wagon. My body reacted just as you’d expect. No sugar = lost weight. Started eating sugar again = gained weight. Fun times. Not.
It’s a serious problem for me. I thought about making a goal to lose a certain amount of weight, but I wanted to be completely in control of achieving my goal. With this goal, it’s totally on me whether or not I make it. (Plus, I definitely won’t be losing very much weight because of THIS!)
I asked all of our challenge participants to list three ways they will work to achieve their goal. Here are mine:
1. Power through the first 5 days
I’ve gone off sugar before. The first few days are the hardest, because you are dealing with withdrawal. During the first week, I will power through the headaches and mood swings, drink lots of water, and look forward to a slightly easier time after that stage is over.
2. Cheese
I will eat cheeseballs. Okay, so really, you can’t give up everything at once. In my opinion, there has to be something that you can eat that will make your tastebuds happy and satisfied. For me, when I’m not eating sugar, it’s all about the cheese! If I’m having a particularly hard time, I can go eat some pizza and indulge a bit, without cheating on my goal.
3. Replacements/Distractions
Water for soda. Peanut butter crackers for a candy bar. I will have “kosher” snacks on hand so that I can stay full and hopefully not give myself the chance to crave something sweet. I’m also going to be crazy busy working, so hopefully I won’t even have time to think about wanting sugar!

Well, that’s my goal! I am so excited to read about all of yours and to cheer you on throughout this challenge! Don’t forget to come back every Tuesday for something challenge-related! Make sure to visit the other participants’ blogs and cheer them on as well!

The Rafflecopter below is for “Resolutions In Motion” participants only. This is to win a spot as a co-host for the “Resolutions In Motion” GFC or Facebook/Twitter hops!

Good luck! Let the challenge begin!

I’m working on doing the same thing slowly. This week, I made my own oatmeal with no sugar. I’ve put in pumpkin and cinnamon but no sweetner. Its actually pretty good. My downfall is the freebies. I have to say no to freebies and that’s pretty hard for me.

I seriously could not give up sugar. I can reduce it, but not give it up. Have you had to give up fruit too? Cheeseballs are yummy. Long live cheese!

Wow, what a great resolution. I just know I couldn’t do it – show me a piece of chocolate and I’d totally cave. But I cut back on sugar in many places. But I wish you a lot of luck with your goal! =)
