Would you like to spice up your gym routine a bit? What if your group fitness classes were a little less “Jazzercise” and a little more theme park thrill ride? This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Les Mills.
The Project: Immersive Fitness is a totally new workout concept that is set to revolutionize the fitness industry. What is it, exactly? Well in technical terms it’s a group fitness class that features cinema quality video content projected onto screens of the studio.
But I think this photo kind of says it all:
Have I got your attention yet? Cool, huh?
The integration of this kind of technology into fitness classes allow the instructors to cue exercise moves that synchronize perfectly with music and graphics. I’m sure you can imagine how awesome that would be in a high-energy Zumba or spinning class.
But what about this…
Isn’t it cool how this kind of technology can enhance not only the fast-paced cardio classes, but it can also be used to bring peace and relaxation to a yoga class? The possibilities are endless.
Immersive Fitness is a project that resulted from the collaboration of two popular fitness brands. Reebok, a well-known fitness brand that has always encouraged people to work out together, is partnering with LES MILLS™, the world-renowned group fitness programmer (creator of BODYPUMP™, and its recent LES MILLS GRIT™ Series), to bring this revolutionary new form of studio fitness to the masses. Both companies are committed to creating an immersive fitness experience, unlike anything you’ve experienced at the gym before!
“The Project adds a rich visual experience to music and group exercise choreography,” said Les Mills Program Director Les Mills Jr. “Participants taking part in a cycle class may find themselves riding up an impossibly steep glacier or sprinting their way around a digital velodrome. In a dance class you might be immersed in a tent at a music festival, where everybody’s dancing together.”
Ready to go to the video? Let’s do it.
If that’s not cool, then I don’t know what is!
So now you probably want to know when you can experience Immersive Fitness. Currently, there are plans for a US tour in 2015 that would feature pop-up studios to allow people to try the experience. You can sign up to receive updates on the Les Mills website or follow the Immersive Fitness Instagram profile to see the latest happenings.
