Lately I’ve been noticing something about my kids.
They are growing up.
I like it and don’t like it at the same time!
Vanessa giggles and looks at me with that gleam in her eye, and my heart melts. Then I think about how soon she’ll be a preteen who is embarrassed by her mother.
Carter says something funny such as, “Mom, when we get home, get a piece of paper and MARK MY WORDS!”
Vanessa waves at me from the top of the slide and says, “Bye bye, see you ‘morrow!” Then she slides to the bottom and says, “I did it!”
Carter gets all excited and jumps up and down when I read him one of his favorite books, and then aces an iPad game meant for adults.
I find myself wishing that I could record all these little moments, but they come and go so quickly, before I can grab my camera.
I don’t want to forget anything. Vanessa’s chubby little legs. Carter chasing the girls at playgroup, calling himself “The Captain.”
Everything that I am able to capture, I’m grateful for! I’m also grateful for people who have actual skill in this department! We recently did a photo shoot with the lovely Kate from Kate Eschbach Photography. And yes, these are all her photos!
Not only did she (obviously) do an absolutely amazing job with our photos, but she was so fantastic with my kids. She “got” them, and that’s the best compliment I could give to someone who is dealing with children. From the moment we said hi, she was Carter’s new best friend, and Vanessa toddled right up and gave her a big hug!
Kate was so patient and easily gave us twice the amount of time that we had paid for. We also got many more photos than I was expecting and received them ahead of schedule. She knew exactly what I was looking for and captured it, in both posed and candid photos.
If you live in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend her work! This post is not sponsored in any way; I paid for my session and wanted to share how happy I was with the process and results!
Thanks, Kate, for helping us capture some of those precious moments!

What beautiful pictures!! They do grow up fast, but each age has its own special touches, so no worries!
Such great pics and a beautiful family! How fast they do grow up!
So nice ot see your 2 kids still playing with – and adoring – each other. My mother swears that when my little brother and I were toddlers (1 year apart) we were like that, but all I remember is fighting with him! So, cherish those moments!
[…] met Kate early last year, when she took photos of my kiddos. And let me tell you, if there is anyone to take photography tips from, it’s Kate […]
