My problem with "fresh" foods

by Megan

So you know how they say that the more processed a food is, the worse it is for you? Well of course I KNOW that, but for me, the more processed a food is, the more likely I am to eat it!

I am probably one of the pickiest adult eaters ever. I do not have a wide range of foods that I like, and on top of that, I am way creeped out by “fresh” foods.

I am constantly worried that whatever I’m eating that is supposedly “fresh” is actually bad. I’m talking about fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, milk, etc. I don’t like to buy a lot of produce, because I’m so worried that it’ll be bad by the time I eat it. It bothers me that whatever I’m eating is slowly decaying, so as fresh as it may be, it’s still in the process of dying. Is that weird? I’m weird.

How can I get over this without going to the grocery store every day to get fresh foods?

It actually takes a lot longer than you think for fresh foods to go bad and when they do go bad, it’s obvious. Fruits and vegetables turn dark brown and meat and dairy products get a foul smell. Most things last about two weeks in the refridgerator and meat and dairy can last longer than that. Apples and carrots last forever when cold. Berries get brown faster, but they taste so good that they don’t usually have a chance to go bad! Be brave!

I just realized that I spelled refrigerator wrong. I hope that didn’t ruin the whole comment for you!
