My Big Big Friend Toys Alternatives

by Megan

If you’ve found this post, and are not a regular reader of my blog, you probably know by now that it is basically impossible to find and purchase My Big Big Friend toys in the United States. It’s a shame that the company hasn’t made these available here, because even though My Big Big Friend doesn’t air in the United States, so many kids have found the series via Netflix and fallen in love with Golias, the big sweet elephant, Bongo, the fun-loving Kangaroo, or Nessa, the girly pink giraffe.

My daughter loves My Big Big Friend; it has been her show of choice for over a year. Last year we threw her a My Big Big Friend birthday party, despite having access to very little merchandise from the show.

I thought I’d share a few options that you might consider, if you have a little one who is enamored with this show as much as my daughter!

Affiliate links are used within this post. If you make any purchases, I may receive a commission (thanks!).

First, even though you can’t get the exact characters, you can search for similar stuffed animals on Amazon, such as pink giraffes or blue elephants.

I thought this pink giraffe was pretty similar to Nessa, and I’m sure it would make any little girl happy who loves the show, even if it is not the exact character.

If you are thinking of throwing a My Big Big Friend themed party, you’ll have to get creative. My mom made the characters out of colored poster board, and they came out great! After the party we relocated them to above my daughter’s bed for awhile. The characters are not very complex to draw, so it shouldn’t be too hard. She did have to do Nessa in two pieces, to get her neck long enough!

My Big Big Friend party supplies are not available in the US, but we improvised by adding streamers and balloons, which matched the colors of the three characters.

Then I simply printed out some screenshots from the show, cut them out, and taped them onto straws to use as cupcake toppers:

For a My Big Big Friend activity, you could utilize the coloring sheets from this website, such as this one of Golias:

The same site has full color photos from the show, so you could be as creative as you’d like with those images. Maybe print them onto cardstock and make a jigsaw puzzle!

If you are interested in buying My Big Big Friend on DVD, you can find that at Amazon:

And lastly, for those of you with Android devices, there is a My Big Big Friend App available, which has jigsaw puzzles of screenshots from the show.

I know the pickings are slim, but with a little creativity, you can make your My Big Big Friend fan happy! And if you want to plead with the company to start selling merchandise in the US, you can find their websites herehere and here.

If you have any other ideas or sources for My Big Big Friend toys or activities, please let me know!

It’s not just the US! It’s a Canadian show (I think, they have that French episode) and there is NOTHING here for us either. I found your blog while searching for merch. My 6.5 year old has loved the show for at least a year now and my 22 month old just became obsessed with it.
Thanks for the idea of looking for a pink giraffe, or blue elephant plushie online. Also, baby’s 2nd birthday is coming up and your ideas are great – I may copy them. I’m going to Pin your blog! Thanks so much.

Yes, it’s a Brazilian/Canadian partnership. I can’t believe you can’t get toys in Canada! They need to realize how many people want to buy them- I’m sure they’d make a lot of money! Glad you found me- hope your little one has a great birthday!

I was luckily able to buy a big stuffed Golias for my son in Brazil when we went on holiday and indeed there there is an abundance of merchandise from the show. Maybe you ebay or amazon Brazil?

May I ask who you contacted? My little guy is turning 3 and he loves this show more than anything in the world. If there is any way I could find him a golias toy, I would be so so excited.

My son love this show. I bought Bongo for him here in Brazil, and he loves. Here there are all characters. If I can help some to send, let me know, and I’ll be happy to help.

Claudia, I would be eternally grateful if I could go through you to get the characters- Golias, Bongo, and Nessa through you. My soon to be four year old has wanted nothing more than to have them since he began watching the show which was when he was close to two. He is in love with MBBF. His birthday is coming up in October and he wants big big friend themed everything, but has been so upset at the thought I might not able to get him the plushies. Please let me know if this is something that could happen and thank you so much for any response!!

Where did you find that giraffe? My daughter found that same one at a yard sale and it’s. Tired. So I’m trying to find a replacement for her beloved giraffey
