How are ya liking all these posts this week? We are still on break, in case you couldn’t tell! I don’t know how much I’ll post over the next four weeks, considering I’ll be back teaching full time and working part time in the evenings. I didn’t take any paid sponsors for January, knowing how busy I’d be, but I do have free ads, and there’s two left!
Well as you probably know, I am:
So I thought I’d do an update on how this pregnancy is going so far.
The Due Date
I had an ultrasound two weeks ago, and I was measuring ahead, so the doctor decided to push my due date up from July 11th to July 2nd! He also let me know that he’s in favor of delivering a little early, like 38-39 weeks, and I let him know that I wouldn’t argue with him on that account! Having been 41 weeks pregnant, the idea of having this baby actually before the due date is glorious.
So it could end up being a June bug baby! It was kind of cool to go from being 10 weeks and a few days, straight to 12 weeks! As of today I’m 14 weeks and two days.
The Fatigue
I have been SO. TIRED. I am actually really concerned about working the next four weeks because of how exhausted I am. We’ve slept in most mornings while we’ve been on break, several hours past when we have to get up for school, and I’ve taken naps on the majority of days. Some of those days I didn’t even want to take a nap, but it just wasn’t an option. I couldn’t help but fall asleep. I was feeling nauseous, but that seems to be getting better. With both of my other kids, I got over the nausea around week 14, so that holds up.
The Gender
Don’t know yet- it will be another 6 weeks until that ultrasound. But my guess is boy. With Carter I was nauseous but it was bearable. With Vanessa I threw up everything that I ate. This has been more like the former. If it is a boy, we can likely reuse a lot of Carter’s clothes, since he was a summer baby! Any guesses?
The Issue
After having Vanessa, I found out that I had a problem with my thyroid. Like it didn’t work at all. A healthy thyroid “number” would be 1-4, and mine was 198. That number raises the eyebrows of every doctor I’ve told about it. It turns out that this can be a complication during pregnancy, so I’m also seeing a perinatologist to make sure everything is as it should be. Definitely praying that this doesn’t affect the baby’s health.
The Down Side
I’m definitely in that stage where my regular clothes don’t fit, but I’m not quite into maternity clothes just yet. Also, I don’t look obviously pregnant, so I just feel really fat all the time. Not a good feeling. I have maybe three outfits that I feel relatively good in, so I’ll be reusing those as much as possible. Give it another four weeks or so, and I’ll start wearing the maternity shirts that make me look super pregnant, so then at least it will be obvious!
The Bright Side
I’m a planner, and it can be hard to plan things when you are trying for a baby, since you don’t know when it will happen. Now that we know when this baby is coming, a lot of other things fell into place.
- I will start running again in the fall, and I have my eye on the Surprise marathon in January of 2014! This will coincide with giving up sugar again and losing that baby weight (and then some).
- Carter will start Kindergarten in August, right after the baby is born, so I’ll go from having two kids at home to having…two kids at home! I’m hoping for lots of quality time with Vanessa during baby’s naps, though!
- We’ll be looking for a new house to rent at the end of the summer, since we’ll need an extra bedroom. We knew this house would be temporary when we moved in, but we’ll be looking for something we can be in long-term. So once we do find a place, it will be nice to organize and decorate with the idea that we’ll be there for an extended time (whether that’s a few years or much longer).
- We have never really done family photos or sent out Christmas cards, but I’m planning on that for December 2013. The new baby will be about 6 months, so that should be enough time for it to look human, and for me to look hot. ;)
That’s all I’ve got for now. I will do another update when we find out whether this little tiebreaker is going to help out the girls’ team or the boys’ team in our house!
