I love having company over. Whether we are playing board games or just talking late into the night and catching up on one another’s lives, it’s always a nice change from the ordinary. But one thing that suffers when friends are over is my diet! It’s all too easy to lose track, and all of a sudden I’m on my 5th soda!
So this weekend when my brother and sister-in-law came to visit, we put together a “lite” mocktail that will satisfy your party attitude without compromising your waistline!
Our visitors were staying with us, so that we could all go together to tour the new LDS temple being built nearby us. When making the reservations for the tour, we realized that we were now a party of TEN! We reminisced about the days when it was just the four of us…
Now look what happened…
All together we have 6 kids, ages 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, and 9 months! It definitely took some mad skills to get all of them through the temple tour and then out to lunch, but we managed!
Later that night we had definitely earned some adult time, so the boys attacked the pile of delicious chocolate pretzels the kids had made earlier (recipe coming soon!), and the girls got to making mocktails!
Here’s the recipe for our Raspberry 7UP Lite Italian Soda:
Ingredients:
7UP TEN
Sugar-Free Raspberry Italian Syrup
Half-and-half
Limes
Steps:
1. Pour a healthy amount of 7UP TEN into a cute glass.
2. Add raspberry syrup to taste, or about 1-2 oz
3. Add half-and-half to taste, or about 1-2 oz
4. Chop one lime in half and squeeze one half into the glass. Use the other half for garnish.
5. Stir and enjoy!
We really enjoyed the 7UP TEN in our Italian soda, but I also bought cans of Dr. Pepper TEN and a 2-liter of A&W TEN. The cans are great if you don’t feel like making a drink recipe and just want to knock back a few sodas, and the A&W could be used to make a lite root beer float!
We got our TEN sodas at our local Fry’s.
This way you can drink your soda to your little heart’s content, and you don’t have to worry about your liquid calorie intake. So party on, my friends!
