Huggies Gives Grants for Community Projects

Next Sunday is this little guy’s 2nd birthday! Harrison, you’re growing up!

Just in the past week he’s given up his binky (okay, we took it away), and started climbing out of his crib, so we transitioned him into a toddler bed. Lots of changes!

His favorite word lately is “no,” but I’m just happy that’s he’s talking, so I don’t really care which word he uses! If you ask him if he wants something, like milk, and he doesn’t, he’ll shake his finger and say, “eh milk.” That also means no!

Last year at this time, Harry had to go to the hospital for a minor surgery. He has hemophilia which, if you don’t know, is a bleeding disorder where your blood doesn’t clot and therefore bleeding doesn’t stop. Very luckily for him and us, Harry has a very mild case, and he’s had no issues with it.

The Phoenix Children’s Hospital has a hematology department, so that’s where we took Harrison. His surgery happened to be scheduled on the day of his first birthday (I know, so mean), and when we checked in, the nurses had a huge, wrapped present for him to open.

I was so moved by their thoughtfulness, then and at other times as well. They showed that they care about their littlest patients!

If you have a baby you love and a cause that you love, then you’re in luck today! Huggies is sponsoring a contest where they are awarding $2000 grants to worthy causes and community projects. And it’s crazy easy to enter.

  • First, take a selfie of you and your baby and upload that selfie to Twitter or Instagram, by June 25th. Make sure to use the hashtag #UltraHug.
  • In your same post, make sure to include a text nomination (approximately 100 – 120 characters) including a name and/or identifying description of a community project in the US, which you would like to nominate.
  • On July 6th, voting will begin to narrow down the 20 finalists to 10 winners who will win a $2,000 grant from Huggies for their nominated community initiative.

We are nominating the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Hematology Department for a Huggies grant, so they can continue to bless the lives of their young patients and their families. Here is our #UltraHug selfie:
