It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Time for shopping and being with family and Christmas music and shopping… And warm meals! There’s nothing better than being out all day and coming home to a delicious, hot meal. Hormel Pepperoni is a staple in our house (yes we eat it right out of the bag), and last night I used it to make pizza melts for the family.
These pizza melts are the marriage between a grilled cheese and a pepperoni pizza! The steps are similar to making a grilled cheese, but with a few special guests! I’ll give you the rundown of how to make them, or you can skip ahead to the video which shows the process sped up a bit!
Hormel Pepperoni Pizza Melts
shredded mozzarella cheese
sliced cheese (I used white American)
Step 1: Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Step 2: Pair up slices of bread, and place one on top of the other, buttered sides touching.
Step 3: Spread a layer of pizza sauce on each sandwich.
Step 4: Add a slice of cheese to each sandwich.
Step 5: Place a generous amount of pepperoni on each sandwich.
Step 6: Cover the pepperoni with a handful of shredded mozzarella.
Step 7: Add one more slice of cheese on top.
Step 8: Pick up the sandwich and carefully remove the bottom slice of bread. Set the rest of the sandwich, buttered side down, onto a hot skillet, then place the bottom slice of bread on the top, buttered side up.
Step 9: Flip the sandwich when the bottom is golden brown. When both sides are browed to your liking, it’s time to eat!
And here’s the video of me making (and eating!) them:
