Since I’ve been teaching basically full-time for the majority of this school year, I have had to find ways of simplifying every aspect of my day. Take lunch, for example.
Teachers get 30 minutes for lunch every day, so there is little to no meal preparation time available. And if you have some tasks to complete during that break, then the time is even shorter.
Enter freezer meals. I’ve had a frozen meal on most days that I’ve taught. They are easy to bring to school, pop into the freezer, and then heat up in the microwave and eat during lunch break.
Quick, yes. Easy, yes. Healthy? Well sometimes!
As with all foods and brands, there is a wide range of frozen meals available, but there are some healthy choices out there…such as…well…Healthy Choice! ConAgra Foods is the company behind Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s frozen meals, and they are committed to providing the freshest, healthiest ingredients while preparing their meals just as you would prepare a meal you are about to eat right away.
I was given the opportunity to try out one of ConAgra’s healthy frozen meal options, and I chose the Healthy Choice Tortellini Primavera Parmesan.
I’ve eaten a lot of frozen meals in my time, and there are some duds out there, but this was not one of them! It had a great balance of pasta and veggies, and it was delicious!
Another thing that I like about frozen meals is the instant portion control. If you are buying the right brand, then frozen meals can be a fantastic option for those trying to lose weight, and they come with just the right portion sizes.
In celebration of National Frozen Food Month (March), Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s created a video showing a day in the life of two women and how new technologies might change their regular routines, particularly when shopping for food. Check it out!
Of course it’s a good idea to balance your meals and include fresh foods when you can, but at times when life is hectic and free time is at a premium, it’s nice to know that there are quick and healthy options out there.
ConAgra Foods frozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!
Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.

Frozen meals have saved me from indulging in a burger for lunch! It’s not the best choice, but its the better choice… Frozen food have their place :)
It’s so tough to find frozen meals that I like. When I worked full time, I ate a lot of the Kashi frozen meals. It kept me from eating a lot of fast food.
It is hard to find a good frozen meal but I like Marie Callender’s and Healthy Choice. It is always better than a fast food burger to me.
it is really hard to find good meals that also taste good also love the post
Healthy Choice is a great brand – their ingredients are really good. I’ve also found quite a few frozen meals at Trader Joe’s that also contain very good ingredients with nothing artificial. The only problem is, Trader Joe’s isn’t available in every state. I’m fortunate to have one here in Staten Island.
