Goodbye, St. David!

by Megan

I don’t usually get overly sentimental or emotional about things. I think it might be because I know that I’m extremely susceptible to those reactions, so instead I choose to not let myself get that way. It works most of the time, even if I get called “cold-hearted” for not crying at a movie. True story.

So even though part of me is sad that we are leaving this house and this town, I’m mostly just excited to get to our new house and our new town tomorrow, and start exploring!

But before we start that journey, let’s take a short walk down memory lane.

We’ve lived in St. David for 6 years now (though my husband grew up here, which means he’s lived in this town for 24 of his 30 years), and we’ve lived in this house for 3 years.

The first time I visited Daniel’s hometown was in November of 2004, when we were dating cross country. It was the first time I had been out west at all!

We had our wedding reception in the old church building.

We brought our firstborn, Carter, home to St. David.

We worked with lots of amazing young people, through the school and church.

Carter got to participate in the groundbreaking for the new church building.

We bought our first house here, and brought Vanessa home to it.

Both kids had their baby blessings in St. David.

I’ve spent many a morning running the streets down here.

We have had a great 6 years here, and we will miss so many things about the town and the people.

Just to give you an idea… The other day I mentioned on Facebook that we needed boxes, and within an hour or two, someone drove up and left ten big boxes on our front porch, and then drove away. Thank you, whoever you are! And last night, one of Daniel’s former students brought us a full dinner and then watched our kids while we packed. That’s the kind of community we live in. I will miss it.

But I’m excited for what’s next! ;)

You’re moving!?! Please tell me it’s not far… or maybe closer in this direction. :)
