From Maybe To Baby: TTC Month 4

by Megan

If you’ve been following our story, you might know that we are currently TTC (trying to conceive). Well, we don’t have a big announcement just yet, but I’m hoping it won’t be long before we do!

Sharing our TTC journey, with an update and a look back at how I've announced my three previous pregnancies. (Ad)
Room for one more!

So we are just starting month 4 of trying, and I have high hopes that we’ll be successful this time! I’ve been tracking my cycle and also using ovulation predictors. For the past two months, the predictors have detected an LH surge on day 11. If you’re not familiar, an LH surge basically means the next 48 hours are your prime time for making a baby!

Our TTC story is being sponsored by Astroglide®, to introduce their new product, Astroglide TTC Trying To Conceive™. I’m always fascinated by the speed of technology today. It wasn’t long ago that women didn’t have a birth control option, and now we have products that are designed to support fertility.

Astroglide TTC™ is specially formulated for couples who are trying to conceive. To be successful, it is vital to provide an environment where sperm has a chance of survival, and Astroglide TTC™ is a lubricant that doesn’t impede sperm like traditional lubricants. It supports fertility with adjusted pH levels.

In my first post, I talked about our timing and how we had our first three kids pretty much exactly when we wanted to. Today I thought it would be fun to share with you how I announced my first three pregnancies to my husband.

Announcing Baby #1

With Carter, our first, I knew for over 24 hours before telling Daniel (or anyone else, except our cat…), because I wanted to tell him in the temple. It was December 21st, and the temple was crowded with lots of people there to see the Christmas lights, and we didn’t find parking soon enough to get in before it closed!

I had to alter my plan quickly, so I took him to the spot where he proposed to me (on the temple grounds), and I told him that I had gotten him a Christmas present (after we agreed we weren’t going to exchange that year), but that it was “on back order until August…so NINE MONTHS back order.”

Afterward we walked around for awhile, and Daniel kept exclaming, “Are you serious?!” It was so much fun to be able to surprise him.

Announcing Baby #2

Vanessa was ready for the world; we got things right on the first month of trying! Carter was about 20 months, and I had already bought him a shirt that said “Big Brother,” in preparation. That night I put him to bed wearing the shirt, and in the morning, I made Daniel go get him.

Next thing I know, Daniel (half asleep) brings Carter into our bed, rolls over and falls back asleep! I couldn’t wait any longer, so I made him wake up and read his shirt! That woke him up!

Announcing Baby #3

With #3 I wanted to do something a little bit bigger! I’ve always wanted to involve my husband’s show choir in an announcement, so this time around I did.

I got a “big sister” shirt for Vanessa, and then I coordinated with one of his students to let us in during class. We came in with Vanessa holding a few stuffed animals, hiding her shirt.

Daniel wasn’t too surprised to see us, because we had visited before. The kids were in a giant semi circle, which was just perfect. I told the whole group, “We just wanted to visit to say hi, and to show you Vanessa’s new shirt.”

Then I showed her shirt to the kids before showing it to Daniel. It was just the reaction I was looking for! Some of the girls gasped, and there were lots of awws and oh-my-goshs. Finally I showed Daniel her shirt, and he got all excited.

Announcing Baby #4

TBD! I have some ideas…
