Hello my lovelies! While you read this, I am probably lounging on the beach in Mexico! Maybe “roasting” is a better term. Either way, I will be on vacation for three days with my husband, his brother, my sister-in-law, and no kiddos! I will miss the babies, but it will be a nice break, and they’ll be partying it up with Gramma and Grampa!
Taking over for me today is the lovely Ashley from Flats to Flip Flops! Take it away!
Hi! My name is Ashley and I blog over at flats to flip flops!
I blog about fashion, faith, and philanthropy! Modest fashion, mommy moments, and giving back are the theme at my place!
So excited to be blog swapping with Megan of Shaping Up To Be A Mom !
Love her blog!
Since Megan and I both heart fashion, and especially modest fashion, we decided to share with each other and our readers why we believe so strongly in dressing modestly!
I totally agree! Nothing feels better than dressing up and being covered and classy.
I also find that it takes more thought to put together something sexy , yet classy.
And seriously people, the more exercise these brain cells get, the better!
It’s also a lot more than that to me. And to Megan too, I believe.
It is honestly an outer expression of my inner beliefs.
And isn’t that what clothes are supposed to be? An expressive outlet of the inner you?
Megan and I both belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (or more commonly known as Mormons).
I believe that by dressing modestly I am not only showing the world my personal commitment to my religion, but that I am sending a message about my attitudes and how I feel about myself.
And hopefully it is saying loud and clear that MODEST CAN BE TRENDY, ATTRACTIVE AND SUPER CUTE!
I also feel now that I have kids, that it is soooo important that they see me living my beliefs. No more lip service when you become a parent!
I want my son to grow up respecting women, to to be able to look beyond the physical aspect and know that it’s the “inside that counts” as he looks for a mate.
And I want my daughter to be confident with herself, because of herself. Not the clothes she’s wearing. And to attract people with what she has to offer in her head and heart and not her body.
And I think there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way…in my religion and outside of my religion. And…apparently Emma Watson!
I would love to hear your thoughts on modest dressing! What do you believe? What are you striving to teach your kids? Head over to my place, flats to flip flops, I’d love to hear from you!
And I know this can be a touchy subject, so let’s all be open and kind to each other!
If you have more questions about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, head to mormon.org or you can always email me with any questions too(firstname.lastname@example.org)!
And a big thank you to Megan for switching places with me today!
Thanks Ashley! I love the quote from Emma Watson, and I also love what Ashley had to say about setting a good example for her children. I know we all try our best to do that!
Don’t forget to check out my post on Ashley’s blog today!
Thanks for reading!
