Welcome to The Nitty Gritty of Blogging: Feedburner, Part Two! This week I’m sharing a series of Feedburner tips and tricks that will help you to get the most out of this powerful little tool.
If you missed my first series on Feedburner, you can find all of the posts on my Nitty Gritty of Blogging home page. These tips require you to already have your Feedburner account set up and active. If your account is not set up yet, hop over to my first post on how to set up Feedburner, and follow those steps. Then come back here. Are you back? Great. Moving on!
I’m going to kick off this series with a really awesome feature that Feedburner provides, which allows your feed/email subscribers to quickly and easily share your posts. It’s called FeedFlare.
FeedFlare: Add easy share buttons for your email subscribers
You probably have share buttons at the bottom of your posts, but what about your email subscribers? If you send your full posts out through email, then you probably have some subscribers who read your posts every day without visiting your blog. Why not give them a really easy way to share their favorites?
Go into your Feedburner account, click on your feed, and click on the Optimize tab.
On the left hand sidebar, click on FeedFlare.
Then just click the checkboxes next to any of the sharing options you want to include in your feed. I use “Email This,” “Share on Facebook,” and “Stumble It!”
After making your choices, scroll down, and you can put them in any order you like:
Here is what they look like for your email subscribers:
And that’s it! Really quick to do, and you can set it and forget it.
Next up, add a title and description to your feed!
