If you have some kids you are looking to keep busy and entertained this summer, today I’m sharing two brand new apps that they are sure to love! The new apps, “Dumb Ways JR Boffo’s Breakfast” and “Dumb Ways JR Loopy’s Train Set” are created by the “Dumb Ways to Die” brand and are geared toward kids ages 3-7.
This post is sponsored by Dumb Ways JR and The Motherhood. I’m excited for the chance to show you these adorable, educational apps. My kids loved them, and I think yours will too!
We gave both apps a try, and all three of my kids enjoyed playing them: Harrison who is almost 3, Vanessa who is 5, and Carter who is going on 8.
The Dumb Ways JR apps focus on teaching younger kids about safety, without any gore or dying! They are fun and humorous, and very easy to learn how to play.
In Boffo’s Breakfast, kids are given an assortment of foods and kitchen tools, to make their own culinary creations to feed to Boffo. Kitchen safety is addressed, as Boffo gets nervous when the stove top gets too hot. While they are cooking their food and feeding Boffo, he reacts in silly and accurate ways. He’ll let you know if he likes your creations or not!
My kids loved coming up with new food combinations, and they even requested to recreate their concoctions in our actual kitchen. #sprinklesoneverything
Loopy’s Train Set was just as big a hit, especially with my little guy who loves trains! In drive mode, you can put passengers on and off the train and control its speed as it goes around a premade track. In build mode, you can build your own train track, as well as the surrounding town with houses, trees and animals, and then drive the train around.
We loved how the Dumb Ways JR apps had simple, yet bright and engaging graphics. It was uncluttered and easy for even our youngest to learn the controls, almost immediately. The apps are designed for open play and encourage creativity, as they subtly reinforce safety messages. The kids loved exploring and discovering all the things they could do in both apps.
I had the opportunity to participate in a webinar with the Dumb Ways JR team, and they talked about how they tested the apps with actual children. The feedback was invaluable as they continued to shape their design, including the comments the kids made while interacting with the apps. I had the same fun experience hearing the things my kids said while they explored both games. I had to record a video of their explorations!

Dumb Ways JR Boffo’s Breakfast:
Both Boffo’s Breakfast and Loopy’s Train Set address safety lessons with silliness, keeping things light-hearted while providing subtle safety information along with a fun, open-ended play experience. The morning after introducing both apps to my kids, I woke up to all three of them, back on the couch, coming up exotic food concoctions for Boffo to try!
Dumb Ways JR Boffo’s Breakfast is now available for download in the App Store (for iPhone) or on Google Play (for Android). Dumb Ways JR Loopy’s Train Set can also be found in the App Store or on Google Play.
