I had my 38 week appointment yesterday, and my progress was about the same as last week. I’m still at 50% effacement and 1cm dilation, but the baby did move down a bit, from the -2 or -3 station to the -1 station.
I did well with my weekly goal of drinking more water. I probably drank about 40 ounces a day, which is still probably not enough, but I had other fluids as well. This week’s goal is just going to be to relax and look forward to the arrival of my mom and sister next week. I have this week and one more of work before I start my maternity leave, and there are also a few things I need to get done around the house. One of which is defrosting my refrigerator- the ice is taking over!
So although I know the water drinking is a good thing, I’m not sure how much it helped with the swelling. My feet have their good moments and bad moments, and I was not able to get my wedding rings off (came really close though!). I asked my doctor about having to take them off, and she said it wasn’t a policy but she was somewhat concerned about my finger! I’m not worried though. I can twist the rings easily, and with only a few weeks left to go, I can’t imagine it getting much worse.
So I’m due two weeks from today, and my doctor told me that if I make it as far as 41 weeks they will induce. So, at the very latest, I will have a baby in three weeks!
