Cleaning Schedule Printable

by Megan

I have a problem. I’m a little obsessed with cleaning my house. I know what you’re thinking:  “And the problem is…?” But really, I needed to create a schedule for myself not so that I would get my house cleaning done, but so that I could stop trying to clean every room every day!

Here is what I came up with:

Click the picture, and then right-click to save a printable version. Please feel free to print and use for your own home! It fits into an 8×10 or 8.5×11 frame, and you can use a dry erase marker to cross tasks off as you complete them.

Obviously this schedule fits my own home, but I tried to make it generic as well, and I think it could work for a lot of homes. I hope some of you find it useful!

If you want to know more about how I made this schedule, keep reading!

I started by assigning a room or rooms to each day of the week, except for Tuesday which is our trash day, and Sunday when I do our meal schedule for the week. Using this schedule, I won’t have to worry if the kitchen is dirty on Friday, because I know I’ll clean it on Monday. Every room will get cleaned every week. The weekly schedule is for picking up/organizing, and vacuuming, and not so much for deep, intense cleaning.

Then, I decided what needed to be done on a monthly basis, and I broke those tasks up among the four weeks of the month. Week 1 starts the month off right with deep cleaning the bathrooms! This could potentially be done throughout the week, or I could do it all on Saturday when I’m cleaning the bathrooms anyway! Week 2 is deep vacuuming which means moving the furniture and using the tool to get the perimeter of the room. Week 3 is wiping down and dusting the whole house, including doors and light switches, etc. Weeks 2 and 3 could be done all on one day, or they could be done room-by-room throughout the week. Week 4 is a deep clean for the kitchen, including disinfecting counter tops and sweeping behind appliances.

The month-by-month schedule on the right side is for tasks that I thought should be done once or twice a year, and I think they are all pretty self-explanatory. I chose February and August for changing out wall photos, because that’s when my kids’ birthdays are, and that’s when we take professional photos.

And that’s about it! I’m excited to get this up in my house and start using it!

Good idea. I am in the same boat. I tried to do something like this, but the need to clean every room overtook me again. Think a cleaning exorcism is in order?

I don’t think it is such a bad thing to keep a cleaning schedule, it helps you out a lot, and makes you feel as if you have gotten a lot accomplished once you clean
