I really love the whole Christmas season. Not just because I can use the threat of Santa not coming if my kids aren’t behaving, but because people are generally nicer to one another. Sometimes it’s something small, like saying Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, or something big, like donating gifts or money to people in need.
One of the other things I love about Christmas is sharing goodies with friends. I love when you come home and find a tray of goodies on your doorstep. It’s not about getting the goodies (although I am a sucker for anything with sugar), but just knowing someone was thinking about us makes me smile. But as we all know it’s better to give than to receive, so what better way to get into the giving mood than giving a delicious treat to someone you care about.
I can’t think of a better treat to share than cookies! Making cookies at my house needs to be cheap and easy. I don’t have the time to make crazy recipes, and with 6 kids, I don’t have the funds for fancy ingredients. With Betty Crocker cookie mixes I can make yummy cookies in about 20 minutes. With flavors like sugar, chocolate chip and peanut butter, you can make anyone’s favorite! Betty Crocker wants to be part of your holiday celebrations, and part of the sharing, so they created the #SpreadCheer campaign. Isn’t that the cutest hashtag? I just love it!
My kiddos love chocolate chip cookies (it’s even the kind they choose to leave out for Santa every year), so we picked up some Betty Crocker mixes to use as we #spreadcheer. I got enough so we could sample our creations!
Betty Crocker cookie mixes are ridiculously easy to make. I’m not kidding, you only need to have butter in your fridge to make these cookies!
Add the butter, water and mix, stir it up and pop it on your cookie sheets.
10 minutes later, you can snack on gooey chocolate chip cookies. This is good news, because you will definitely need to make more if you plan on giving them to friends! Who can resist a warm cookie? #notme #myhipsdontlie
Now that we had our treats we needed to decide who we were going to surprise! We decided on our good friends the Haroldsens. We used the downloadable coloring sheets and gift tags to include with our goodies. After finishing them up (and restarting any that were covered in chocolate fingerprints!), we packaged them up for delivery!
We decided to ring the doorbell and run! I kept the getaway car running as the girls rang the bell and left the cookies and ran giggling to the car.
They decided that we need to #SpreadCheer every year, so we are adding this to our holiday traditions!
You can pick up Betty Crocker mixes at a grocery store near you, but first visit their site for a coupon to save $0.50 (top right)! Have fun and #SpreadCheer!
