A Look Back: 2015

by Megan

Before moving on into all of the awesomeness that 2016 is sure to bring, I wanted to reflect a bit on 2015 and remember all of the great things that happened this year! So here comes…

It's been a great year full of traveling, celebrating, and enjoying life! Here's my look back at 2015!

2015 was really an incredible year. These were my favorite trips, events, and moments.

On January 31st I ran a marathon. Yup 26.2 miles. I think I ran one other time in 2015, after the marathon! I am not an impressive runner, but running that far IS impressive, and yeah…I want to do it again!

2015 was a great year for me, for theatre! I directed a play in March, starred in a play in April, and directed a musical in October! When you consider rehearsal time and performances, I spent 6 months of this year in a show!

I really enjoyed the productions I got to be a part of, and lots of fun memories were made. I don’t expect to do much theatre in 2016, but I will stay involved as a board member, and I’ll definitely be back onstage before too long!

My husband is a high school choir teacher, and in March, he and his show choir (which I choreograph for) traveled to California to compete. I usually travel with them, but this time I stayed home to be with the kids (and because it was during one of the shows I directed). When it came time for the awards ceremony, my husband called me, and I got to hear them win a first place trophy!

In June I went a little crazy and took every single piece of clothing I owned and put it all on my living room floor. Yes, like everyone else I read Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.”

As it turned out, I had just about 600 pieces of clothing, and I got rid of about half of them! About half of what I kept, I put into bins in the garage, and the rest went back into my “Konmari closet!”

We celebrated lots of events, including Vanessa turning 4, Harry turning 2, and Carter turning 7! They had a fairy party, an Elmo party, and a Minecraft party.

Our summer was packed with trips! We went to California at the end of May, where I attended my third Elevate Conference and we took the kids to LEGOLAND!

At the end of June, I jetted off, sans family, for an exciting weekend of exploring New Orleans and attending my first iRetreat Conference!

Almost as soon as I returned from New Orleans, Daniel and I flew to New York City where we saw some shows and did some touristy things we haven’t done before like walking the Brooklyn Bridge and visiting Coney Island.

We also spent lots of time enjoying Gramma and Grampa’s pool!

In October we took yet another trip, this time to the Turks and Caicos Islands, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, and so I could attend my first Social Media on the Sand Conference (#BeachesMoms).

After returning home, we celebrated on our real anniversary (a few days later), and Daniel had some major surprises up his sleeve!

It was a busy year, full of shows and travels, conferences and celebrations. At the beginning of 2015 I set some goals; I accomplished some of them and didn’t even begin others, but regardless, we definitely reached out and grabbed life in 2015! I expect 2016 to be a bit quieter, and I am looking forward to it!

Goodbye 2015, hello 2016!

Looks like a great year! I read that tidying up book too, and then I didn’t tidy. Your photo inspired me to at least tackle the clothes! I have so many old things I haven’t worn in years. Best of luck in 2016!

Haha, yeah I stopped tidying after the clothes, but it was so worth it! I’m planning on doing it again to reduce even more! Have a great 2016!!

I’m going to have to read the Magic of Tidying Up. I mean, I need to purge like you wouldn’t believe. Also, how awesome are you as a director. If they ever make the movie that is my life, I’ll demand you direct it!
LOVE YOU
