A Look Back: 1986

by Megan

Welcome back for our third installment of the “A Look Back” link-up! This month we are taking a trip back in time to the year 1986. Where were you and what were you doing that year? We want to know, so link up your posts below!

Oh, 1986… The year we got a video camera.

I was one-going-on-two at the start of 1986 (that video is from the end of the year, at Christmas), and I looked a LOT like my little 18-month-old does now!

We were still living in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, but we moved into a condo. #5. I have lots of memories from that condo. There was a huge (or maybe I was just small) shared backyard and a swing set in the front, as well as a wooded area on the other side of the parking lot where I once fell backward into a giant puddle of water. But that was a different year.

Since I don’t personally remember much from 1986, and since my brain is mostly mush from our move, this post is going to be mostly photo memories!

I spent a lot of time at my Gramma’s house, while my mom was teaching school.
Taking a bath…
Me and my Dad on my 2nd birthday in May of 1986
My parents were big on inviting costume characters to our birthday parties. I’m surprised I wasn’t horrified by this thing, but at least it wasn’t as bad as…
…what came to my brother’s birthday later that year!
I know you all know who this bear is! Right?
McDonald’s picnic…best!
We spent a day at Santa’s Village…
…where apparently my parents let us ride this ride on our own!
My favorite ride at Funtown, where I would later be hired as a singer/dancer and meet my future husband!
Halloween
Megan’s my name, wearing my name on my shirt is my game! This was at Gymboree.
Christmas haul- sled and Baby Talk, among other things!
Not sure what I was doing here, but I know that it was intentional!

You are assuming I’m going to recognize your birth as something that actually happened.
