So, of course, this would be a check-in on my no-sugar goal.
I’ve made it 9 days now (and 42 minutes), and I’ve lost about 8.5 pounds!
To be fair, that’s still all baby weight, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s coming off easily. I gained about 35-40 pounds this time around, and I’m down about 25 since having le bebe, so that leaves about 10-15 left.
After I get back to my pre-third-baby weight, I have more to go, but we’ll start with getting back to there first!
You want to know the #1 way I’m getting through this so far? Telling myself that this year is simply ONE of each date. So on July 16th when we went to visit Daniel’s mom, and she had a fridge full of soda (which I normally would have relieved her of during the three days we visited), I just told myself that this was the only July 16th I would have to do this for. And that works every day. My parents brought donuts one day. They gave my kids big chocolate chip cookies another day. And I was able to resist both of those things by telling myself, “This is the only one of this day that I have to do this.”
I do realize that once I reach my goal weight, once this year is over, I will still have to limit foods. But I don’t plan on giving up sugar for life.
Just 356 more days!

8.5 pounds in 9 days, way to go! I could totally use a year long sugar fast, and I am sure it will be much easier once more time passes!
Wow, a whole year without sugar! I don’t think I could have that amount of restraint or will power. I’m assuming you’re just talking about processed sugar, but maybe I’m wrong? What about fruit or other naturally occurring sugars? Are you eating any grains? Sorry if you’ve posted about this, I was just wondering.
That’s a good way to think about it! I really need to cut out soda.. my daily Mt Dew is really hindering my weight loss dreams.. Thanks for the motivation!
Good for you! Sugar and sweets are a beast, they are literally everywhere you go and if your in laws are like mine they don’t just offer it once but they offer it like five times even if they know your cutting it out of your diet. Keep up the good work!
gosh girl, i need your motivation!! great job!
I am so impressed with your willpower. I really really need to do this myself!
