Shaping Up For Summer: 15 Pound Challenge

by Megan

It’s getting warmer! You know what that means- Spring is here, and summer speedily cometh! Only 8 weeks left in Shaping Up For Summer, and then the school year will be over, graduation activities will be past, and we’ll all be sleeping in (right, Harrison?).

Last week I weighed in at 165.0, and I was so excited to be a mere 1.2 pounds away from my lowest weight in years. Being at 165, with three months left before our vacation in July, I decided to set a goal which is my 15 Pound Challenge. I want to lose 5 pounds per month, for three months, so that I can go on vacation weighing 150 pounds.

The last time I weighed 150 was a few months after having my first baby, about 5.5 years ago. Before that I never weighed 150 until I got pregnant. To lose 15 more pounds would be a major accomplishment, and I know it would make a HUGE difference in how I look and feel.

Now I just have to do the work! April will be a little tougher, too, because I’m back up a pound or two since hitting 165.

So how to do it? Well I have my gym routine which I should be able to keep up with all month. Plus, now that I no longer have weeknight rehearsals, I have time to go running again! After being away for 2+ hours every night, a 30 minute run won’t seem like much at all! Excited to get out there and get in my 1800 minutes for the #1800MinuteChallenge.

If I count this week, there are basically 5 weeks in April, so here are my goals for those 5 weeks:

  • Hit the gym at least twice a week
  • Zumba at least once a week
  • Run 30+ minutes at least 3 times per week
  • Drink 3 water bottles each day

I got in my gym time this week, but I’ll have some catching up to do next week with the other goals!

Great goals for April! And your little boy is such a cutie! My main goal is continue incorporating strength training in while training for the half marathon. When I’m running more often, I tend to slack on strength training :s

Hope you have a great Monday. God bless!

Thanks, Amy! Good luck with your training! I’m the opposite right now- getting in my strength training but no cardio!
